6. LindaThomas reviewed financial statements. Ken Keyes and Cathy Harroun were auditors for Fiscal 2008. Ken Keyes assured those present that the "books were in order".

7. Election of Officers – Ken Keyes declared offices vacant. He confirmed that the number of directors and members present represent a quorum - (according to the by-laws there must be a minimum of a majority of the directors (5 of the 8 currently serving) and at least 3 members who are not directors.) Ken stated that: in accordance with the Constitution, 6 to 10 directors can hold office for a period of two years and are elected by the general membership. Elections for directors are "staggered" to allow for continuity in the organization.
Directors leaving office after a two-year term:
Linda Van Hal, Nancy Steele, Linda Thomas, David Clark,
Directors remaining on the board to complete their two-year term are:
Elise Huffman, Leann Cunningham, Tim Seitz and Vicki Johnston.
8. The nominating committee consisted of David Field and David Clark. They presented the following slate of nominees:

9. Beth Caldwell nominated the following persons as executive officers:
President: Vicki Johnson
Vice President: Nancy Steele
Treasurer: Linda Thomas
Secretary: Leann Cunningham
Seconded by: Betty Anne Field
No other nominations were received.
Ken Keyes announced the officers for Fiscal 2009 were acclaimed as nominated.
The meeting was turned back to outgoing President, Linda Van Hal. She thanked Ken Keyes for his excellent job conducting the election once again.
10. Motion to appoint auditors for Fiscal 2009: Ken Keyes and Cathie Harron

11. Ken Keyes moved that the signing officers be any 2 of the President, Vice President, Treasurer or Secretary.

12. Linda Van presented David Clark with a scroll and thanked him for his service to the Friends of Big Sandy Bay over the years. She noted that although he was no longer on the Board of Directors, he would continue to actively support the organization.
13. Presentation by Dr. Erwin Batalla. Dr. Battalla spoke knowledgeably and passionately about the owls and other raptors on Wolfe Island. He provided visual and auditory clues to identifying the various species and answered many questions from the audience.
